Laminate Countertops, Right for Any Budget

Your kitchen countertops are one of the first things that people notice when they enter your kitchen, so you want them to be not only beautiful, but also practical for cooking and preparing food.

When deciding on the right countertops for your home, three things you may want to consider are, how durable they are, how much maintenance they will require, and whether or not your can fit your choice of countertops into your budget.

If your budget is the major limiting factor in which countertop you choose, you may want to consider laminate countertops. Laminate countertops are cheaper than most other options. They are also pretty durable, they don't scratch or stain easily, and they don't require a whole lot of maintenance.

Laminate countertops are easy to cleanup and you can use most cleaners on them without any worry that you will mess them up or damage them. This is usually factor with natural stone countertops, where you can only use certain cleaners on them.

Laminate countertops are vulnerable to chips, dings, dens and other damage on the front edge. For example, if the edge of your laminate countertop were hit by a falling pot or pan it would most likely cause damage.

Laminate countertops are also vulnerable to heat damage. Setting a boiling hot pot on the countertop can make a black mark, or even cause the laminate to bubble up, but you shouldn't be setting hot objects on your countertops anyway, even if they are granite or quartz.
